Where Should the Probe Be Placed?
The correct placement of the Neno Sereno probe depends on the stage of pregnancy and the baby’s position.
1. From the 12th week of pregnancy
the heartbeat is best searched for in the middle of the abdomen or slightly below the navel.
2. After the 24th week of pregnancy
the fetal heartbeat is usually easiest to detect where the baby’s back is located. Since noticeable movements are typically caused by the baby’s legs, the probe should be placed on the opposite side of where the mother feels kicks
3. Between the 32nd and 40th week of pregnancy
the listening area depends on the baby’s position. If the baby is positioned head down, the heartbeat can usually be found on the left or right side below the navel. In a breech position, it is usually heard above the navel, also on one side of the abdomen.
The baby’s activity and the ease of finding the heartbeat may vary depending on the baby’s position, the time of day, and the mother’s emotional state.
